Multi-disciplinary contractor Trant Engineering, headquartered near Southampton, has officially been recognised as an industry leader in health and safety practice for the 34th consecutive year. The firm, which works for blue-chip clients in high-risk environments, was presented with the Patron’s Award by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Multi-disciplinary contractor Trant Engineering has officially been recognised as an industry leader in health and safety practice for the 34th consecutive year.
The firm, which is headquartered near Southampton and works for blue-chip clients in high-risk environments, was presented with the Patron’s Award by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Just 26 companies globally are recipients of the special award. To be eligible, each achieved a minimum of 25 consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards.
Trant Engineering’s clients include Portsmouth Water, Southern Water and Wessex Water. Other clients include ExxonMobil, the Ministry of Defence, National Grid and Magnox.
The Patron’s Award recognition means Trant Engineering, which employs 800 staff and field personnel across the UK and overseas, is one of only two companies in the UK to have received 34 consecutive awards by RoSPA for demonstrating high health and safety standards.
ExxonMobil’s Esso Petroleum Company, at Fawley oil refinery near Southampton, is the other.
Serving in the sectors of energy, nuclear, oil & gas and water & wastewater process, Trant Engineering delivers total engineering solutions – from design and installation to commissioning and handover – as principal designer and principal contractor.
Primarily working at live operating plants, the firm provides civil, mechanical, electrical, process, control engineering and construction expertise.

Along with a wide range of actions, toolbox talks are conducted weekly with the workforce, along with risk reviews of planned activities to support the risk management process.
Trant Engineering, established near Southampton in 1958 by the late Phil Trant and with a turnover of £136m, works on long-term framework contracts and capital expenditure projects in the UK, Singapore, Falkland Islands, Ascension Island and Channel Islands.
