Waterways APPG to hear about the role of the waterways in the Government’s Environmental Improvement Plan

At its next meeting, the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Waterways (APPGW) will be hearing from Heather Clarke (Canal & River Trust’s Director of Strategy) and Eoin Harris (Canal and River Trust’s Head of Environment) on how inland waterways are a key contributor to the Environment Improvement Plan.

They will also hear from Michael Limbrey (Chairman of the Montgomery Waterway Restoration Trust) about the Montgomery Canal as a practical example.

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the Waterways considers matters relating to navigable (and formerly navigable) rivers, canals, estuaries and lakes in the UK; including the potential social, economic and cultural impact of the regeneration of those waterways and extension of the system.

MPs and peers are being encouraged to attend in person while video attendance is available for representatives of waterway organisations.

It will be held at 9.30 am on Tuesday 28th March. If you represent a waterways organisation and would like to receive an invitation to the video meeting for the event, please email amy.tillson@waterways.org.uk
