Aliaxis claims plastics can be at the forefront of chemical-resistant pipework

Aliaxis delivered a keynote speech on the opening day of CHEMUK 2023, where the fluid management specialists called for the introduction of new processes and techniques when developing chemical-resistant pipework systems and how plastics can play a pivotal role in this.

The Aliaxis team were at the event, highlighting its full range of systems and solutions, including Durapipe FIP PVC, Durapipe Polypropylene, Durapipe Corzan, and SuperFlo ABS.

James Roper, Head of Product Portfolio at Aliaxis, took to the stage to discuss the requirements of modern chemical applications and processes and what this means for the future of chemical-resistant pipework.

James said: “The world is changing and so are the needs of chemical applications. However, there are many processes and techniques still used today that were introduced more than 25 years ago. I strongly believe that doing everything the same as we’ve done before, always using the same chemicals and the same processes will result in the same outcome.

“From Aliaxis’ point of view, we are interested in looking at chemicals, treatments and working with our end users to really understand what solutions the market needs going forward.

“As a population, we need to find new ways of exploring and sourcing different plastics to find out what is possible. We also need to find new ways of sourcing chemicals that can do the right job.

“Aliaxis play a huge part in this. We want change, but we need people to change with us, so we can help our users to understand what processes are out there and what their limitations are.

“Through our in-house chemists and our European research development sites, we are at the forefront of plastics research and strongly believe in the innovative solutions this can provide to a broad range of chemical applications. We are keen to working closely with the industry to decide what the future of chemical-resistant pipework looks like and how plastics can play a key role in this.”
