Pennon’s acquisition of SES Water to be investigated by CMA

The CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) has announced it is to investigate the completed acquisition by Pennon Group Plc of Sumisho Osaka Gas Water UK Limited (including its subsidiaries Sutton and East Surrey Water Plc, Summit Water Limited, and Osaka Gas UK Limited) under the Water Industry Act 1991.

The CMA served an initial enforcement order to Pennon on January 11th, which details how they should proceed whilst the CMA carries out its investigation.
