Templant awarded three-year contract by Northumbrian Water Limited for the provision of emergency response hire generators

Generator hire specialist Templant has been awarded a three-year contract by Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL) for the provision of emergency response hire generators.

The three-year contract is specifically for the Essex and Suffolk regions, to ensure uninterrupted power supply to sites in these areas round the clock and 365 days a year.

Templant is based in Chelmsford and was awarded the contract due to its proximity and ability to meet the required response times effectively.

The hirer is responsible for supplying 50 critical locations within a 2-hour window, along with over 150 subsidiary sites, across two counties. This will be achieved using units from its existing fleet as well as new stock sourced from suppliers, including Pramac and Atlas Copco.

The machines span 20kVA to 2000kVA to meet a variety of power needs and have been supplied with battery energy storage units and automatic change-over panels as necessary. Tracking and monitoring software has also been provided.

The generators are on standby, ready to be deployed whenever required to ensure continuous power supply and minimise downtime on NWL sites. Templant has set up a dedicated team of on-call night engineers and drivers to provide site backup, overseen by recently appointed Contracts Manager Rhea Solari. Personnel have also received special training, including the award of a National Water Hygiene ‘blue card’.
