Northumbrian Water opens recruitment for apprentices

Northumbrian Water is celebrating the launch of National Apprenticeship Week 2025 by opening recruitment for 24 new apprentices.

There is a wide variety of apprenticeships available across the North East for a September start, with roles including electrical and mechanical maintenance, customer service, data analysis, plumbing, laboratory science and more with the opportunities ranging from Level 3 advanced apprenticeships to Level 6 degree apprenticeships.

Current apprentice Elysia Kirtley, who works in the water supply team in our rural areas, said:

“I would definitely encourage anyone who wants a great start to their career to apply for an apprenticeship.

“I am really enjoying my role with the rural north team because every day brings new challenges, hands-on learning, and the chance to make a real impact in our communities.”

All the apprentices are supported by a business mentor, and they are also provided with an in-depth development programme.

“National Apprenticeship Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the value this form of training brings to individuals, businesses and communities.

“It’s an exciting time to join us as this year sees the start of an ambitious investment programme bringing diverse roles across the business to support and deliver outstanding service to our customers.

“It’s also important to recognise that apprenticeship programmes aren’t just for school leavers because they can be used to help people take invaluable new steps in their careers, no matter what age they are, so we would recommend anyone who is considering an apprenticeship to apply.”
