Charity golf event raises £15k for WaterAid

Volunteers and sponsors of the CIWEM WaterAid Charity Golf event were delighted to swing by NI Water HQ recently to hand over £15,000 which was raised through the sold-out 2024 competition to WaterAid NI President and CEO of NI Water, Sara Venning.

The organiser said the annual golfing event at Rockmount Golf Club has continued to go from strength to strength, driving home increased player interest and donations for WaterAid each year.

The organising committee said it is grateful to all the industry partners that take part in the competition and in particular the headline sponsor for the 2024 event – GRAHAM.

GRAHAM Civil Engineering Commercial Manager, Colin McKeever, commented:

“GRAHAM was delighted to sponsor the WaterAid NI/CIWEM Golf Day at Rockmount Golf Club, a yearly highlight in the fundraising calendar. A massive thanks to all the WaterAid/CIWEM team who organised a brilliant day in raising £15,000 to help bring clean water and improve hygiene to those who need it most. We look forward to continuing to support such a worthwhile cause in the future.”

Colin McKeever and Gareth Smyth from GRAHAM (back right), joined Mark McEvoy, RPS and Michael Donnelly, NI Water – part of the event organising committee – and Paul Rocks, Chair of CIWEM NI Branch present Dr Sara Venning WaterAid NI President & CEO of NI Water with the £15,000 raised through the 2024 charity golf event.

Dr Sara Venning, WaterAid NI President and CEO of NI Water added:

“NI Water is proud to lead the local WaterAid NI Committee and we support WaterAid’s vision of a world where everyone, everywhere has access to clean water, decent sanitation and good hygiene. These essentials keep people safe and healthy.

“One in ten people worldwide don’t have a reliable source of clean water close to home and 1.5 billion people don’t have a decent toilet of their own. The local committee would like to congratulate the CIWEM golf team for raising this fantastic total for the charity.”

The 2025 event is on course for Friday 5th September. Details will be sent out to those registered in late spring.
