​​Reappointment of Committee members​ to the Climate Change Committee

The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, The Rt Hon Ed Milliband MP, along with relevant Ministers in the Scottish Government, Welsh Government, and Northern Ireland Executive have reappointed Professor Keith Bell to the Climate Change Committee.

Keith first joined the committee in 2019. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He has previously advised the Scottish Government, the Republic of Ireland government, Ofgem and the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on power systems issues.

This reappointment took effect from 31 March 2025 and will last for three years.

Following Professor Swenja Surminski’s reappointment to the CCC’s Adaptation Committee from 1 May 2025, she has been reappointed to the Climate Change Committee. Her expertise lies in areas of climate resilience, adaptation, disaster risk management and sustainable finance.

This reappointment took effect from 1 May 2025 and will last up to three years.

The CCC said Professor Surminski will continue to provide a bridging role between the two Committees.
