Thames Water is carrying out a £5.1m investment programme in Biggin Hill, South London, where 3.9km of pipe will be replaced to reduce leaks and bursts and improve network capacity and reliability.
The work will begin on May 27 and will take up to two years to complete, working closely with the local authorities to ensure efficiency and minimal disruption.
The work is part of Thames Water’s continued investment in vital pipework, upgrading critical infrastructure across its network as it works to improve, maintain and innovate the wider water network. More information on other upcoming projects can be found here.
David Gable, Senior Project Manager at Thames Water, said:
“Our purpose is to deliver life’s essential service, so our customers, communities and the environment can thrive. It’s vital that we upgrade our ageing infrastructure and the Biggin Hill investment will provide greater resilience to the area and ensure fewer supply interruptions for customers. It’s an example of the work we are doing across the region to improve our performance and provide the best quality service we can for years to come.”
Thames Water held drop-in sessions earlier this month to outline the work to residents as well as the long-term investment this will provide, which included meeting with local councillors and residents, pictured below.
Councillor Melanie Stevens said:
