New treated water reservoir and pump station in Jurby, Isle of Man

Manx Utilities is set to construct a new 0.75 million litre potable water service reservoir and pump station in Jurby, located in the north-west of the Isle of Man.

This £2.9 million project aims to enhance the water supply for existing customers and facilitate future expansion in Jurby, as outlined in the company’s Area Plan for the North and West. The service reservoir, a partially buried tank measuring 22.5m x 15.5m x 6m deep, is one of many such structures across the network supplying treated water to Island residents.

The project will be led by the Principal Contractor, Paul Carey & Sons, with construction set to begin on June 9, 2025, and expected to be completed within 12 months. Manx Utilities said the location has been carefully chosen to minimize disruption to local residents, and once finished, the reservoir should blend seamlessly into the landscape, covered with translocated grass and seed.

John Wannenburgh MHK, Chair of Manx Utilities, expressed his gratitude:

“I would like to thank the Jurby Commissioners for their invaluable support in advancing this crucial project for the North.

“This new reservoir is vital for the expansion of Jurby and will secure water supplies for years to come.”
