Striking Scottish Water staff to protest outside company’s offices in Glasgow today

Striking Scottish Water staff will demand bosses stop playing games and start talking about pay at a protest outside the company’s Shieldhall offices in Glasgow today (Wednesday 4 June, 2025), says UNISON.

Members of trade unions UNISON, Unite and GMB – who are in the middle of a week-long strike – will take their demands for fair pay direct to the company with a rally.

Frustrated workers say they had little choice but to resume paused industrial action after talks broke down last month. The unions accused the company of playing games when it went back on a pay offer.

UNISON Scottish Water branch secretary Patricia McArthur said:

“Staff at Scottish Water are taking the call for fair pay to the heart of the company. Bosses need to stop playing games and start paying their employees properly.”

UNISON Scotland regional manager Simon Macfarlane said:

“Scottish Water workers keep clean, fresh water supplies flowing to homes across the country. Without them, the system grinds to a halt. They’ve been undervalued for too long and their voices won’t be drowned out.

“Employees have been forced to resume strike action because the company went back on previous promises over pay. Enough is enough. It’s time Scottish Water came back to the table with a decent offer.”
