Towards environmentally-friendly phosphorous management – Richard Clarke, Programme Manager (Engineering Innovation), United Utilities

A Water Vlog, with Phil Alsop, Editor of Water Magazine

In this Water Vlog, Richard Clarke, Programme Manager (Engineering Innovation), United Utilities, discusses the alternative approaches to phosphorus removal on rural wastewater treatment works (Alt-P) project – made possible by the Ofwat Innovation Fund Programme.

Alt-P is exploring alternative approaches – electrocoagulation, natural, or plant-based coagulation and reactive media – to phosphorus removal from wastewater, to move away from dependence on the use of metal-based coagulants particularly in rural wastewater treatment plants.
