New UK Sales and Marketing Director at Polypipe Building Services supports drive to more sustainable built environment

Polypipe Building Services has announced that Tom Murray has joined as their UK Sales and Marketing Director. His appointment will be key to working with customers as the business and wider Genuit Group supports the construction industry’s increased focus on sustainability.

The news follows a series of recent product innovations at Polypipe Building Services that are geared to helping make drainage and water supply installations more efficient and more sustainable. These include an update to its popular Terrain PVC pipe product to now be manufactured with up to 65% recycled materials, and the launch of Terrain FUZE Stax, an off the shelf two-part fabricated system that makes common installation configurations faster to fit.

Having begun his career as an engineer in the British Armed Forces, Tom’s professional experience spans a variety of construction industry segments working in complex and dynamic environments where communication and relationships are key to getting the best from people and keeping projects on track. He was most recently Head of Sales at a leading manufacturer of water and space heating systems.

Tom said: “I am well used to helping customers successfully work with changing environmental regulations and shifting project demands, not least from my time in the gas sector where the energy transition has created major change.

“What I learned from this is that people are taking a much broader view of the value products can offer them, with factors like full lifecycle embodied carbon being a key consideration in whether an item is going to perform as required.

“In turn this means factors such as Environmental Product Declarations have a crucial part to play in this and will soon become mandatory, and Polypipe Building Services is already on that journey and has completed most of these. These are essential for any business that wants a seat at the table in the future and who wants their product to be specified.

“We are already experts in drainage, but we also provide a fantastic water supply solution and prefabricated services via Advantage too, so one of my key priorities will be to get that message out there to our customers and to help our sales teams to have those conversations.

“I’ve worked in the building services industry for many years so I’m excited to join a business and the broader Genuit Group that is so focused and committed to sustainability from a product development, prefabricated offsite services and operational point of view.”
