ERG Group acquires Hygrade Plastics to expand fabrication capability

ERG Process Technologies, owner of ERG (Air Pollution Control) Ltd and ERG Plastic Fabrications Ltd, has announced the acquisition of Hygrade Industrial Plastics Ltd, a long established specialist industrial plastic fabrication manufacturer based in Rugby.

ERG (Air Pollution Control) Ltd is one of the largest air pollution control system suppliers in the UK with a turnover in excess of £20m. An important market for ERG is the fine chemical, pharmaceutical and precious metal refining industries which demand the very highest standards of plastic manufacturing. In these target industries, ERG said that Hygrade’s outstanding reputation for manufacturing specialist plastic lined GRP vessels for chemical reactors and air pollution wet scrubbing vessels is well known.

The company said this acquisition marks a strategic move to enhance its expertise in manufacturing plastic pressure vessels in full compliance to the Pressure Equipment Directive and BS EN 13121 (GRP tanks and vessels) with ellipsoidal and torispherical dished ends.

ERG Hygrade Industrial Plastics Limited offers PFA, FEP, ECTFE, PVDF, PP, cPVC, uPVC lined GRP vessels capable of withstanding pressures to 6barg in the most corrosive environments.

ERG confirmed that a further benefit of the acquisition is to expand its footprint in the UK. The company is currently the odour maintenance framework supplier to Thames Water, Southern Water and Scottish Water and also serves all the UK water companies on an ad hoc basis. Rugby’s central location will allow ERG to enhance its odour and industrial maintenance services to the UK wastewater industry and the UK process industry as a whole.

Commenting on this development Richard Hanson, CEO of the ERG environmental group said:

“This acquisition is a natural extension of ERG’s long-term growth strategy. Hygrade brings unique technical expertise, a solid reputation, and capabilities that will allow us to deliver technically better solutions to our customers. We’re excited to welcome their team and integrate their strengths with ours.”

Kas Kasthuri, Sales Director of Hygrade Industrial Plastics said:

“Joining ERG opens new opportunities for our business and our customers. Together, we can deliver more high-performing robust systems.  I’m pleased for my staff and the opportunities being part of ERG will bring for them.”
