CMA investigate acquisition of Arran Isle by ASSA ABLOY

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is to investigate the proposed acquisition of Arran Isle by ASSA ABLOY.

The agreement to sell Arran Isle was made in September and the deal was expected to complete by the end of 2021 but on 14 February the CMA announced the launch of its merger inquiry.

Arran Isle has a large portfolio of companies within the architectural and fenestration markets, including Carlisle Brass, Eurolite, Locks & Hardware and Mila.

Arran Isle had already divested its US operations to Patrick Industries in late 2018.

The CMA generally investigate when there is a view that a merger will result in a substantial lessening of competition within any market for goods or services.
