IFAT Munich modified from five days to four for 2026

Despite the 2024 event receiving the highest attendance ever, Messe München GmbH, the organiser of the IFAT series of events around the globe, has decided to shorten the flagship exhibition in Munich from five to four days in 2026.

The organiser said it took the decision after comprehensive evaluations, and in consultation with companies and trade associations.

Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München, said:

“The new schedule will make IFAT Munich even more efficient. At the same time, we will conserve the resources of our exhibitors and visitors. We have taken the upcoming anniversary in 2026—60 years of IFAT Munich—as an opportunity to optimize processes and have adjusted the length of the trade fair in light of this. The magnificent growth of IFAT Munich over the past decades is the direct result of the partnership-based dialogue that we conduct with many industry players and our ability to react flexibly to new developments. We will maintain this successful model in the future.”

In 2026, IFAT Munich will also have a new name. The trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management will now be called IFAT Munich: Solutions for Water, Recycling and Circularity. The organiser said the new name underscores the trade fair’s role as a platform where the world’s leading and most innovative companies and agenda setters come together to present solutions in the fields of water, recycling and the circular economy.

IFAT Munich 2026 will now take place from May 4 to 7, 2026 (Monday to Thursday). The opening hours will remain unchanged at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
